Keep in mind the club is closed down to all firearm activities the Thursday before and the weekend of any 3D archery shoot.
The wild game feed and fish fry is provided by club members for club members, get your family together and come on out for a good free meal. These meals start around 4:00 pm, for the wild game feed feel free to bring a dish to pass.
We are looking for a few things for the club to keep and have use of Chainsaws, weed eaters (gas) vacuum cleaner, push mower, various grounds keeping equipment if you have any of these things that are in good working order, that you may wish to donate call Dan at 815-499-9127.
I hope you all had a great year and the next year is better. Last deer season I got my daughter to go hunting for youth season and regular shotgun season, She filled both tags. Get your teens out and get them hunting or fishing the memories last a lifetime.
We have talked about an open house for quite some time as of now its still just talk, anyone interested contact me. I would love to see this happen.
Here’s my rant, we need to have members start helping out, now I’m not talking to those few members that already do 95% of everything, I’m talking to those that do nothing but have the opportunity to do something. Keep in mind this is your club also and your help is needed to keep this thing going, I think everyone enjoys coming here and for the most part they think everything is done by elves. Long story short the elves get tired and need help. Take some pride in your club, come out and do something, pick up garbage, replace shooting boards, mow, weed eat, clean trails…. If you don’t know what to do call me I can help.
Why is it I have a tackle box with a thousand dollars worth of lures in it, but a hook and sinkers is all I use, must be a guy thing.
Most other sportsmen’s club’s charge way more than MSC for dues.
Anyone out there wanting to try a new facet to the sports that MSC promotes come out to a new event or practice, lets say you have thought about shooting trap but never have done it, come out on a Friday evening and shoot. We have some the best national and local shooters you can find, and once more they are good guys that will help you out with your shooting, the same applies for archery.
The ducks sure didn’t come down like normal this year.
For those of you frugal hunters (like me) try going to garage sales, last year I bought a bow for sixty dollars that I got two hundred fifty for on a trade in, I also picked up three tree stands for less than ten dollars each, and a Knight muzzleloader for ten bucks, plus a lot of useful stuff for fishing and camping.
Put a large deer roast in the crock pot turn on high add a half cup water a heavy table spoon of McCormick Italian seasoning ( I use McCormick because they support our troops over seas) about a quarter cup of juice from a jar of jalapeños and two or three diced hot peppers cook for 24 hours or until it falls apart, put on a bun…. Good Eats
Well that’s enough ramblings for now, remember treat your hunting and fishing ground with respect take out what you brought in. Help someone starting out with the outdoor activities that you like knowledge and wisdom are hard to come by but easy to share. Take a kid with you the next time your out, it might be a hassle now but it will pay off later.
Keep your nose in the wind, and your powder dry
